So I haven't been on here in a while but current changes have necessitated a third row to eat in a vehicle and I have found an 83 country squire for sale. Unfortunately it has a CCV 302 and I'm hoping it has a c4 in order to make replacing that crap with a standard carburetor a lot easier. I've heard this is a possibility, but I've never seen a panther chassis car with anything but an aod. What are the odds of it being a three-speed and how hard is it? To say make a Holley carburetor work with the aod

One trick is to just take the CFI throttle lever off and mount that to whatever carb if you can manage that. Otherwise, you need to set up the sam geometry for the TV attachment. I think the earlier CFI cars used a rod rather than a cable, so that may help matters. Just make sure the mounting point on the throttle lever is the same distance from center as the one on the CFI one.

100% chance of an AOD.
Can use a Motorcraft 2150 with the TV lever already attached. They are somewhat hard to find but not impossible if you don't mind paying.1990 Country Squire - under restoration

The AUTOLINE C8181A is the same thing but for a 351W, so it breathes a bit better, but they're out of stock currently.1985 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, "Maisa"
