    Suspension Upgrades Complete

I wanted to thank all of you for the information you have here. I have an 89 Mercury Grand Marquis that was bone stock with single exhaust, no rear sway bar, sagging rear springs, and worn out shocks. After doing some reading here I upgraded the suspension and my Grand Marquis is like a new car. What a difference, no more floating down the road.

    Upgrades:

    Stock dual 2” exhaust
KYB GR-2 shocks front & rear
Police sedan 1 1/8” solid front & 1” solid rear sway bars
    Moog rear cargo coils CC817

As soon as wash & clean her up I’ll post some pictures. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a good setup, can't wait for the pictures to show up.

          Stage 1 Suspension Upgrades Complete

I should have put Stage 1 Suspension Upgrades Complete as the title. I want to install some 3.55 gears and a locker or limited slip differential, but I don’t want to mess up Tripminder calculations.

changing gears will not mess up your tripminder if you install the proper speedo gear for the 3.55's

Just so you know, the "Ford Racing" Torsion differential is simply a Detroit TrueTrac unit. I paid much less than that for mine $390 as it was on sale.

It's $430 now but that's still substantially less than $510. And it's still the best price around.
Link to the correct 28 Spline 8.8 TrueTrac unit. This is where I got mine from.

I think your rear bar is up side down. but I not sure it makes that much of a difference.

From Manual: Align four holes in stabilzer bar with holes in loower arms. Install color coded end of bar on RH side of vehicle.

Uh, it would not fit upside down...it'd hit the axle.

Good upgrades! Next step would be tie rods, idler arm, and bushings. I can guarantee the bushings are shot. I haven't seen a box yet with good bushings.
