the free hieght of these are less than what the NAPA wesite lists for OEM replacements - does this mean that these will be stiffer than OEM?
I dont understand spring rates 100% so what am I looking at here??

also I want a little boost in hieght but not too much... the variable wagon springs gave the 85 a little too much I think before they wore down a little... (cheap springs???)

they are going for about $50 shipped which is about $15 less than what i priced from the stores with discount.
If these are a "good" spring to get I wanna get em.

Than a civilian car - Yes.

SPRING RATE= 165 Lbs./In = 5lbs/in stiffer than later CVPI coils (165 vs 160 -very little)

TRW is the OEM for panther springs - if they are indeed TRWs they are pretty good quality.

For $50, they seem like a logical and economical choice.



Free height isn't everything - with a heavy car like yours it is the loaded height you'll want to pay particular attention to if the front to rear rake is important to you.



If you prefer to have an adjustable rear height, and spring rate - I recommend air-lift airspring inserts. They slip inside the stock coils.
By increasing the air pressure you not only increase the effective spring rate, but also increase the rear trim height to your taste. Also beneficial for those who haul heavy cargo/tow.
I'm running these on my Marquis solely for the adjustable rear spring rate (I don't tow, haul, etc. I just wanted stiffer rear springs that I could adjust to my liking to make the handling more neutral) - but with no chance of a complete ass-dragging failure like a true RAS. lol

Nice alternative to air-shocks, which offer lackluster valving even when compared to even old panther twin tube gas shocks.

The rear of a box weight is around 1500 lbs. half of that is 750 lbs. 750/165= 4.54. Springs will compress approx 4.54 inches. Installed spring height would be around 15.94-4.54= 11.40. Thats close to there 11.63 figure. Now just measure the height of your loaded spring on your car and see what ride height change is.

The CC819s are the springs that give my car that ass-high redneck rake, they have 200 or 225 lb/in stiffness and your car will ride like a truck with them when empty.

Well hell, I have the self-leveling system, so no matter how much shit I haul in the trunk the load of the coil springs is always the same. So really my car rides like a dually truck all the time, but yours will be different cause you don't have the air-assist stuff.

The proper length shocks and valving help with the ride also. The heavy waggon springs and waggon overload spring give shocks an installed height of around 19 inches. The factory replacement shocks only extend to 20 maybe 20.5 inches. When the shock extends it transferes motion to the front then back to the rear and back and forth. Causes a rough ride. I run 1000 lbs springs in the front and 225s in the rear. It dosentt ride bad except for upheavles in pavment like were the pipes and pavement are cracking up more like speed bumps. Compaired to most mussle cars its a better ride.

Mine are also 22 years old, so they're probably somewhat shorter than yours. Work fine tho.

the CC817's, variable rate sedan cargo coils - seems like they are the happy medium between stock rate sedan and variable rate waggin springs.

springs have arrived - they are nice and beefey.
They came in a TRW box, so hopefully they are really TRW springs!

I hope to install them soon, with the tight coils on top. right???
