    I'm considering doing it. Seriously.

While i'm at it, i'd channel the body on the frame about 2 inches, and run air ride...

You should do it Tom. But where do you plan on getting an 03 frame, or do you already have one? And would you use the 4.6 or a 5.0/5.8?

Why bother with the frame swap then? The older frame would be easier to do that with.

              The lines on mine:

The section from pump to coupler is standard 1986 box line, the piece between the union and the box is the 98+ line. Return line is the 98+ one but as mentioned, its just bulk hose with a clamp, so nothing special needed there.

              The coupler:

The part attached to the steering box is from the 98-02 car. The part going into the steering column is the original from the car. The rag joint in the middle is the Help! section rag joint repair kit. The holes are spaced slightly narrower on the 98-02 coupler, so I had to enlarge the holes in the rag joint a little, but no big deal. Most of the hassle is cutting the rag joints apart. Not a big deal with a die grinder and cutoff wheel tho. Pain in the ass otherwise.

Do you guys also use the EVO feature, or have it disabled?

There are quite a few 97-02 steering gears.

The 99-02 CVPI is the stiffest of them all - yielding the most road feel. 99-02 CVPI do not use EVO
The 97-02 HPP (same as 97-98 CVPI) is behind that, it is a nice compromise between the softer civlian steering and the very stiff 99-02 CVPI. This gear is setup for EVO

We all have used late PI boxes, so no evo. Had been thinking about how to implement it though..

                  02PI on mine. It's wonderful.

I've been contemplating a 97-02 steering gear swap myself. I think I will go with the 97-02 HPP/97-98 CVPI unit to retain my EVO operation, though.

                      Gadget:

OK, this is peculiar! The steering box I got from the wreckers connects in what APPEARS to be the same fashion as the one you have, with the different style connector before the rag joint. My old steering shaft/rag joint look like what is on the OTHER side of your rag joint. Would this mean that instead of giving me an 86-91 steering box they accidentally gave me a newer style one?
