    Rear suspension questions

I've been pouring over a lot of the shock and spring information on here, and I've noticed that a lot of people install stiff springs and/or shocks up front, but don't necessarily instal stiff shocks or springs in the back.

What I've been wondering for a few days now is are these cars more prone to oversteer with a set up like that?

Also, what would be a good way to offset the lack of a rear sway bar, stiff spring and shocks, or stock springs with stiff shocks?

Sorry if these questions seem noobish, but most of my experience with large cars comes from owning an SS, so starting over with a Panther is like learning how to walk all over again.

    TIA.

You own a 94-96 Impala SS? You're one lucky SOB. Post pics of it if you have any. If you want to beef up the rear suspension, go to a junkyard and get a PI rear sway bar. As for rear springs, you can go with wagon coils or PI springs. I'm not sure but I think wagon coils are 200lb/in. There are 225lb/in. springs, but I don't remember who makes them, possibly Tru-Coil. And KYB makes some heavy-duty shocks to go with those springs. Sorry I can't be of more help, that's basically the extent of my suspension knowledge. Good luck with you're project or whatever you may be working on.

Owned I'm still kicking my ass for selling it

Yeah, I was checking out the 225lb coils from the stock car store (I forgot the website, I know it's mentioned around here somewhere), and I was thinking about the Monroe severe service shocks, but I'm wondering if that would be way too stiff and still wouldn't make up for the lack of a sway bar.

Right now I'm just trying to figure out the ins and outs of the suspension in these cars. I think for the moment I'm going to be extra cheap and just buy some "heavy duty" Monroes (they're like $12 at Advance Auto and I need some new shocks pronto) and try to find a rear sway bar and go from there.

And back to reading and taking notes...

        monroe sucks.

Stiffer springs require better shocks, but the best way is with stiffer springs if that's all you want to get at this point.
