Stock aluminum driveshaft.

I picked up my 1990 CV parts car today, and put it up in the air for the first time. First thing I noticed is that it had an aluminum driveshaft. I was un-aware that these came stock with an aluminum driveshaft at all. Couldnt find any info in old threads. Rear ends a 3:08, and theres no rear sway bar. Was this an option you could choose? Heres a pic.

May end up keepin this car, almost same shape as 91, and alot nicer colour combo, but thats off topic. So I guess you've never seen a aluminum driveshaft stock?

yea they came in the 90 and the 91's......and some aerlier models

yeah mang boxes have them just not super common.
Keep it for sure even if its bent its worth $20 scrap lol

I never new boxes came with aluminum driveshafts. Think it would be easy to find one at a junkyard near me? And if you're gonna keep that 90 CV, get rid of the awfull single exhaust.

They are hard to find undamaged at junkyards....

Nice to have though if you can find one. I was lucky enough to get one from a friend for free..

Guess the car was worth the $300 bucks. Thanks for the info everyone. I thought i was gonna have to pull a driveshaft out of some other year of car and modify to fit. Couldnt find much info on a swap on here or anywhere else.

Check the pinion flange size if swapping. Some aluminum shafts had the huge one, some had the small. My aluminum shaft takes the huge. Hence the reason it isnt in my car.

I bet it's got both aluminum bumpers too, that's how my (well now it's my dads) '90 is.

Yeah, Im havin a hell of a time finding an unmangled one. Also I dont know if they exist but Im trying to find a town car aluminum shaft. That would be the bees knees.
