It is a tuner (with datalogging) that plugs into the J3 service port, ya.

I hope you got a D9S mark 7 or Mustang DA1 ECM, other wise it no workie according to the Tweecer website.

I had one of these a while ago. used one I got off corral.net
Never could get it to work correctly, I suspect it had a fautly connection at the J3 port connector.

I haven't had any issues with mine. Has worked well, even though I only got the base model (without datalogging)

That's the difference between a mustang HO computer and a mark 7. The integrated cruise. Nothing else signifigant.

The DA1 is also a manual transmission ECM, so it has a little less initial timing. Theres also a possibility that the Mustang one doesn't have the speed limiter. Mark VII brains are limited to 110 mph, though in his particular case it won't matter. No VSS input on an 87 wiring harness, so no speed limiter. I'm not sure about the speed limiter, but any of the other parameters can be changed, so the initial program values probably aren't so important.
