    Coolant reservoir question

My '87 Grand Marquis has a plastic reservoir that holds both coolant and washer fluid in separate compartments, it has a black lid. Is this lid permanently attached (glued/welded) to the reservoir body from the factory?

I went to clean it from years of gunk and discovered mine is glued together. But I'm not sure if that's original or just some previous owner did it by himself. The lid has 4 plastic clips in the corners that hold it pretty well and the reservoir is not pressurized, so I assume it does not necessarily need to be glued together. I took it apart, thoroughly cleaned it and now I'm curious if it came like that from the factory and if I should glue it back together again.

I have had mine apart. Not sure how it was originally put together, but it clips together just fine.

+1 yes, they are glues from the factory. The clips are insurance to make sure they stay together.

If these are like the fox body reservoirs, LMR carries repops

Looks like it should fit. Whether the mounting points are correct or not, someone else will need to verify.

Does not the '87 have BOTH coolant and window washer fluid? And what's up with the "cut out" on the top?

Mounts for a box are on the top, not the sides. Here is another LMC option that, as Frankie pointed out, has the correct washer and overflow setup, but still the wrong mount points (but potentially could work/fit)

The bronco one won't sit correctly though. The bottom is shaped way different and I think it's deeper.

Do this.................take it our of your car, then as I did wash it out in a slop sink, I used several bottle brushes and a good amount of industrial cleaner. Plastic still yellow, but the insides are spanky clean!

Frank most likely it does, as does my '86.
