    1987 Really Good Fuel Eceonomy....

while back I adopted my current 1987 Townie base model 302 3.08, Georgia car with 58k miles (up to 63.5k today). service-wise replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, pcv, power steering pump, steering box and pitman arm, replaced steelies with turbines, runs on 2019 215-70r15 uniroyal whitewalls at 38 psi, replaced iac, egr valve and position sensor, temp sensor, radiator and cap, done scheduled oil changes, refilled trans pan and changed filter, and other small tlc. all underhood vacuum and electrical lines are in working order. AC doesn't work.

found my tires were scrubbing so did a driveway alignment to zero-ish toe and suddenly i'm getting upwards of 18 MPG in mixed driving and 26 MPG on the highway. never thought a box could perform this good and I'm not even driving slow!! burns plenty oil though

good alignment and not flooring it everywhere goes a long way to getting decent mileage. 24 should be the normal highway mileage for boxes with highway gears (2.73/3.08). So 26 isn't that far off the average.

    Also, Nice.
