no start part 2 on cougar

well i changed the tfi coil a few days ago and it started fine and ran good all day.

today it wouldnt start. it cranks, sputters, cranks, sputters and keeps like that. if i go back to the old tfi, it just cranks no sputter.

sometimes if i pump the gas it feels like it sputters differently..

    dont know.

changed the plugs, tried a different maf, tried not having the airbox on, tried unplugging things like the iac and tps...

    no change.

i put a pin in the shrader valve and fuel shoots up. it doesnt shoot up really high, but a few inches. so i dunno i havent tested pressure... but it was fine the other day. no real change in temp or weather.

any suggestions? im going to try a different cap and rotor mines a bit worn from miles and cleaning it.

Is the spark good and strong, or is it kinda weak? Will it start if you squirt some starting fluid in the throttle body?

the cougars fell off, i noticed it had a coupler for nothing, and the one at tracys had a sensor hanging off it. so yes on the cougar, no on the towncar

Try this. Change the PIP/Pickup Coil in the distributor, underneath the rotor. That fixed it for my car once.

checked spark at coil. good. gave nice shock.
checked spark at plug. good. gave nice shock.
decided it was the fuel filter. the socket holding the damn thing on is like an 8.5mm socket. so i rounded the fucking thing off with vice grips. and got black undercoating all over my arms.

                      got it running

all the cranking ruined the plugs. so after new plugs were put in it started to catch, then my mechanic turned the dizzy to get it started.

it was a bit gutless, so i held the gas and brake and had him turn the dizzy till it burned out real hard.

                      sweet.

                      very happy now.
