    Urgent AOD Info Needed Please!

My tranny story is about to come to end, Monster has my aod ready to go and they/ we just need to know 1) does my 91 vic w/ a 5.8L's tranny use a 2 or 3 bolt starter (theyre pretty sure 2, but better safe than sorry and having to ship a tranny back) and 2) 10 1/4 or 11 1/4" tailhousing? Hopefully my tranny ships tomorrow!!!
    Thanks in advance.

2 bolt. All Windsor motors use a 2 bolt starter.

You also would have the shorter tailshaft for a Vic. the long tailshaft is for Lincolns. If you still have the existing tranny, just measure it. If you don't, they should have looked at the thing when it came in for the core.

Thanks so much for the reply. Long story, Im in CA, trannys in FL. To their credit the guys at Monster really went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure Im getting the right tranny for my car, that and free shipping and they could give a crap about the core.

yeah, forgot about that, the lever on the side is different for floor and column shift.

Am hoping that having the core to canabalize parts from will help w/ any problems like shift levers, etc.

Worst case scenario you can always pull the levers from a junkyard tranny.

That would be worst case scenario, really want this install to go smoothly and not have to do a lot of goose chasing. Wouldnt any parts that I might need be on the original tranny?

If they'll install the correct one initially that would be great, but its not a major chore to swap them out. Just make sure the tab on the lever sits into the slot on the trans otherwise it wont shift.

While the tranny's out cut a hole in the sheetmetal above it and install a floor shifter? Then when time and money allows you can also build a consore around it, and be a cool kid

I'd suggest new fittings for the trans cooler lines if your car has the type that come off. You'll see plastic on the back side of the fitting where the line goes in if its a quick connect. They tend to leak after being disturbed. Also, if you're not replacing the trans cooler, I would reccomend flushing it out.

Tranny cooler is being replaced, saving old one for poss use as power steering cooler.
