    Torque converter question...

I have some questions about torque converters...

1: What does the stall mean on a torque converter?
2: What RPM stall would you guys recommend for my car?

by the way, where can I get a Transgo NoYoYo SysKo Shift Kit?

stock 1800 RPM stall. Without an HO cam. With the E303 you were talking about a 2100 would be nice.

Stall is to say, that if you held the brakes, and mashed the gas, AND your tires did not spin, your engine would go to the stall RPM. However, this number is usually based on engines with a little more umph than ours engines. So you are looking at for a 2100 at stalling probably aroun 1800-1900, with full HO around 1900-2000.

hmm..that explanation is WAY easier to understand than what everyone else has been telling me...thanks.
so, 2100rpm stall should do it? cool...
I seem to remember that converters come in different sizes as well as different stall speeds...is there a certain size I need to get?
and where can I get one for a decent price?

Ideal stall speed should be ~500rpm under peak torque rpm. I think TCI has sheet you can fill out and they will recomend a convertor for you. Someone also makes a non-lockup convertor for the AOD that doesn't require a 1 piece input shaft, I'll see if I can find them...here we go read this http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/09/converter/

with my 3000 stall, on the foot brake it will move the car at about 2600. If im cruising at about 50 in 3rd and floor it the rpms jump to around 3000 before the car starts to pull.

I though stock was 1200...1800 maybe for an HO. I would suggest something in the 22-2400 range. Maybe a bit more. My old car definaltely needed a higher stall...I was running a B&M torquemaster 2400..
