    Upper intake

I'm planning on changing my valve cover gaskets, the pcv valve, some of the vacumm lines, the air divertor tube, maybe an injector, and putting on my HO intake. I did buy the correct HO gaskets, I looked up the part numbers on this site (70262, 72543) since I had a hard time finding them anywhere else.

I bought the permadry gaskets, but do I need to use any gasket sealer on those gaskets? Some people say I do, others say not to but I have done it in the past with similar types of gaskets. The engines I did use gasket sealer with those types of gaskets required it since they had alluminum heads with poor sealing valve covers. Do I need a special type of sealer for the egr spacer or would standard headgasket sealer work (blue tube, not sure of the name)?

For the injectors, can I buy a single injector kit or do they sell those kits in a set of 8? I think I might only have to replace #3 and the other injectors work fine for now. Any methods of cleaning them out well before installing them or would soaking them in fuel system cleaner be ok? Also, is there a good way to get the carbon buildup out of the HO intake, carb cleaner hasn't worked well?

Are there any things to watch out for when swapping the intakes, replacing injectors, etc? I do have everything ready to put on the intake, the linkage is swapped (thanks scott) and I have a bored out egr spacer(thanks eric). It sounds easy enough to swap the intake.

    Thanks in advance

Do NOT use any sealer on the perma-dry gaskets, just make sure you clean both sealing surfaces very well. also make sure you don't over tighten the valve cover bolts, this will distort the gasket and it wont seal correctly.

last time I priced injectors at the parts store they were $38 each, which is a tad expensive for me. You can buy new 19lb injectors for $190 (set of 8) or you can have your stock 14lb injectors cleaned and flow matched by Marren fuel systems for $23.75 each.

If you're talking about the fuel injector rebuild kits that come with just the pintle caps and O rings, those can be purchased individually. If you're gonna have them out, I would suggest doing O rings on all of them just to make sure they seal properly when you put it back together.

No sealer on any of the gaskets is needed. Just clean the surfaces up first.

I used carb cleaner on mine, and it cleaned up really well but not all carb cleaner is created equally. Try 2+2 and a toothbrush and see if that won't do the trick.

I think I found the part number for the injector kits, CRB212085 on the Napa website. They were $3.99 a piece and include the pintles for the injectors.
