Just post a single picture of this engine in the car.

    *semi serious offical sounding here*
Believe what you want, but false advertising is not something that is welcome on GMN, so IF you plan on selling it though GMN, post pics or don't post it at all.

Take pics pf the exhaust manifolds. take pics of the valve covers. Thake pics of the underside of the engine (the freeze plugs like was said). Any of these will make the determination.

Feel free to talk about it all day. I was just saying that if you do post about it in the for sale section do it with pics only.

If the exhaust manifolds look like your other 302's, then don't waste the time with pics, because it isn't a Boss. If it is an aluminum 2V/CFI intake, then it isn't a Boss 302. The intake casting numbers would make it obvious.
What is it about this engine that makes you think at all that it is a Boss 302?
Like I and Blaze and others have said, if you take pics, get pics of the valve covers and exhaust. The other pics like the block will show if it is a homemade Boss or the real deal.

I think during the era of the Mustang II there was a special edition Boss. Just some tape stripes and Boss on the side. Guy used to come in the local speed shop and try to order stuff for it always let us know it was a Boss like it was something more than a tape stripe job. Might have been avialable through only certian dealers or regions. Maybe its an engine out of one of them

Somewhere from '79-'83 there was some goofy "boss" trim. They used the slogan "The Boss is back" in advertising. It was nothing less than an absolute joke. Beyond a doubt, here in the real world on planet Earth in the USA, there was no actual Canted Valve 302 engine in a production car after 1970.....NONE. There were NO exceptions. Any canted valve 302 you might find after the 1970 model year in a production Mustang, Crown Vic, Grand Marq, or on the Space Shuttle was someone's aftermarket creation. End of story.
