i was hauling ass(bout 85-90mph) on da freeway earlier today to drop off my sister at a band concert at this school and on the way back i took it easy on da throttle on city streets. on a red light i saw some smoke coming from underneath my car. i pulled over, popped the hood, no leak anywhere to be seen, i looked under the car and bingo, engine oil splatter everywhere. the smoke was coming from the h-pipe burnin da oil dat landed on it. i couldn't see where da leak was coming from since it was all over da place. i got home and even after a while it just kept on dripping. i checked da oil dipstick and i was runnin low. put in 2 quarts and same thing. fuckin oil spill everywhere. i dont wanna lose my engine or my car. so wat do you guys think could be da problem? ill clean off da mess 2morow morning and take some pics so you guys can help me out. ill take some current pics(with da mess) and cleaned up pics so u guys can see wat i mean.

Humm, i can think of a few things, #1 The oil sending unit #2 ure oil pan screw is loose maybey needing a washer on it? Maybey a oil line busted? And a Slight maybey on the valve cover gaskets.,
Id recomend filling her back up with some oil. start her up and find where the oil is comeing from. Does it still leak with it turned off? If it doesent im leaning toards a broke line/loose bolt. or that oil sending unitAlso from the pic under ure post it looks like something has been driping oil for a whille now...
Well i hope that helps a little.People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

most of that spill there is from my brother's car as well as mine. but mostly my power steering gear box. amazing how many lil drops can get to look dat bad.
back to da engine oil, for some reason it does drip after da engine is off. da oil pan bolt is nice and snug/tight no leak there. as for da sending unit, where is it located at? and wat does it look like? if its dat how much is dat gonna cost me? as for da oil lines busting, if its those then i guess it'll be pretty easy to find da leak. da valve covers never leak on me so i dont think its there. but thanx alot, any help is greatly appreciated

Could be the rear main seal leaking that you see, I've had plenty of cars that have done that. It will drip onto the exhaust creating some smoke sometimes also. Its a bitch to fix on most cars so I would check the sender first.Current rides - 1991 Ford Thunderbird 3.8 v6 (gas saver/DD) - New Heads/Headgaskets with ARP studs, Air Silencer Delete, 70mm MAF, Plasti-dipped Matte Black with a Silver Metalflake Overlay, Muffler Delete, some LED's, 30.233 MPG for high MPG average!

Allrighty, humm Well since it still drips after the engine goes cold. it's prob not the sending unit. but i might be wrong. but if it is u can find it prob UNDER HOOD, DRIVER SIDE, FRONT ENGINE AREA, BENEATH END OF CYLINDER HEAD, MOUNTED IN THE BLOCK ( Thats a text book "" for a 85 ltd ) And as for the price the part is usualy about around 5 bucks i woldent know about labour.. :-/ Humm
But ure best bet is prob to in the am get some old clouths on and fill her up with some oil, go under there and look, and allways be carefull,
As for your engine blowing or something, 2 quarts prob want hurt it all to bad.
Just be sure to check the oil level agine before starting her up.
Any how hope that helped, and good luck :->People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

To clarify a bit on the oil pressure sender, its right near the oil filter. Slightly above and forward of it. You'll see the wire going to it. Degrease it real good and see where its coming from. It could be almost anything, blown rear intake seal caused by excessive pressure from a clogged PCV system, a hole rusted through the oil pan, if you have an aftermarket oil pressure guage the line for that might have blown, etc. Can't tell till you get the goop off and see where fresh oil is coming from tho.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

gotta clean up that mess to find it sometimes...
gotta look from underneath and follow the mess up the block - Id guess its the rear intake manifold gasket, since you've already at a look underneath.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

here are some pics. i think i found where its leakin from. for some reason da oil seems to be seeping through da space where da starter bolts up to da transmission. not to da tranny but next to it. i was thinking maybe i need a new oil pan gasket. since its coming from up there. i couldn't get a good view but once i turned on da car it started to dribble down da starter and then to the floor. also, da plate dat i guess covers da tranny, in my pics, is a bit bent out of place b/c of bottoming out and it drove some of da air pipe valves coming from da air/smog pump up into it and dats why it looks like dat and some oil also leaks from there. take a look.

i knew it, i knew it was some sort of gasket. so da rear main seal huh. imma have to take off da oil pan huh? and is this real difficult to do? how much is da seal?
wat about the opening in da plate dat covers da tranny? if its leakin from there too, how could i fix dat problem? or can i just get a new/used one from a junkyard cv dats in better shape than mine...?

oil pan gasket is gonna be a pain if it is the double sump pan. you have to either raise or remove the engine to do the gasket on that. the double sump pan is formed over the crossmember under the engine and to have the clearance, you need to take the engine out or raise it enough to get it out. only place the oil would come from behind the pplate where the engine meets the trnsmission is the rear main, unless its from above and going thru there on the way down. i would check the back of the intake and look down the back of the motor to see where it starts. only way to find the leak is to look all over back there.

Start up top and work your way down. It could easily be the intake gasket, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, or the rear main seal. I would also suggest replacing the PCV screen, valve ,and check the one PCV hose under the intake to see if it's kinked..Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons
