Im curious... will stock manifold logs fit GT40Ps?

If so, you could use them till you get enough $$ for headers...

thats what you need. Mustang headers that also work with P heads. Others might work but P headers are not the most common thing on earth. Tons and tons of Mustang shorty headers but not everything will fit with a P head. Might find them cheaper elsewhere but they're definitely more spendy than your standard cheapie headers.

well i talk to my bud today and he said that engine still might be mine if i want it its form a 70s torino with heads that everyone wnated at that time idk what type i m hopin cleveland but how can i tell and really the main problem with this is his dad not wanting me to have it because of emissions how can i make it pass emission 70s eninge in 80s car but i m still interestd in this exploxer motor if this falls threw and i think the header i have will fit but if iget the motor that is when i will check

you're probably not going to easily get a 70s engine with a carb to pass a smog check based on 80s emission standards. You may be able to do it with catalytic converters for an idle test, but you'll need an EGR system for a dyno test most likely. If its a Cleveland, you'll also need to figure how to do engine accessories since I doubt the stuff from a 302 will bolt up to it. If its a 351 Windsor, the stuff will fit but you'll need a specific AC bracket if you're keeping the AC. I've heard more than one person getting through emissions by running the tank close to empty then dumping in a gallon of denatured alcohol and running it through. The alcohol burns cleaner, and won't trip off the sniffer. In any case you're going to need catalytics for a NJ visual inspection and since they dyno test them here, you'll probably need EGR, unless you know someone you can get to hook you up with a sticker.

It's going to cost more than $1000. Save up as much money as possible.
