once again.... there are no single digit trouble codes. and during the KOEO test you will get a long pause and then a single flash or beep, thats the seperator 10 code that tells you its switching from current memory to stored memory.

see the post in the archive for a list of trouble codes

Yeah, those codes are all over the place, bite the bullett and buy the digital reader. Put that digital reader on your credit card, it could have been on your door by now. I tried the flasher way with my SHO and I finally gave in when it kept breaking down on me. I bought the reader plugged it in replaced the crank sensor and drove it until I sold it with no more problems. Before I got the digi reader I couldn't make any sense of the codes.

C'mon.... it can't be that hard to count flashes/beeps.

I have done it plenty of times.

Then why am I having so much trouble telling you guys what codes my GM is throwing? The damn "check engine" light comes on when the car gets hot and it wants to stall out. I'm driving with two feet. The rpm raced upwards today when I put it in R while trying to parallel park.

I smoked a Jeep Cherokee full of kids tonight from a few lights. My car is still deadly from 0-50 mph on the street. The driver kept pulling along side at lights and I spanked them. (I put a car length on them from every stoplight). I can still spin the right rear tire without any effort. Floor it and hold on. But stick a fork in me on the highway because I'm DONE by 50 mph. (Damn plastic TV cable grommet!!!)

I'm going to change the IAC later this morning and order a new TPS. I hope this solves the problem until I get my new code scanner and find out what's really wrong with my Grand Marquis.

check engine light comes on for 2 reasons... overheating or low oil pressure.

several codes that seemed to consistantly show up on your list, assuming I read them correctly, were code 12,13, 21 and 63
21 is for ECT and 63 is for the TPS.... 12 and 13 are for the idle bypass.

Before you start replacing sensors, either try to use the code scanner again or wait for the new one to arrive and make sure the codes are correct.
Also, do some diagnosis before you start replacing stuff... try cleaning the idle bypass valve, take the ECT out and polish the tip with a green scotch bright pad, use a volt meter and calibrate the TPS before you replace it.
you can also use a ohm meter and test both the ECT and TPS for internal opens.

I fixed it!!! It was the TPS. I stole the one from my HO throttle body and put it on. I took the car for a ride around town. No problems, no "check engine" light, nothing.

The car wouldn't even idle this morning before the TPS change. (I was going to meet my brother for breakfast, but had to cancel). It runs fine now. I didn't get on it too hard, too many people on the streets. I need to pick up a voltmeter to calibrate the TPS.

(Now I just have to deal with my AOD problem).

Thanks for all your information guys!!!

I thought the check engine light on these cars only came on for engine overheating or low oil pressure. Maybe that's just the old one's though.

Sorry, just read the whole post

If you smoked a Jeep Cherokee, it was a 4-banger. An I6 Cherokee will absolutely annihilate our boxes(stock anyway). I should know, I owned one.

My car isn't fast. I only have a cold air induction, X-pipe, 2.5" mandrel-bent pipes, Flowmasters 40s and Marauder tips. They inched up at the light, I inched up. (I'm not going to give it away. You have to earn it). The light turned green and I floored it. I put a car on them from each light. I didn't stick around to ask any questions. It may have been a 4 cylinder, I don't know.

(I stayed door to door at the beginning of my race with a black Avalanche from a light a few months ago. He did start to pull away from me around 40-50 mph).

It was definitely a 4-banger that you raced. The uncorked(no cats or muffler)4.0 in my Cherokee made enough power to chirp the tires at 65mph when it downshifted as I was passing someone.
