it was -35C outside and i went to start up the old mans 88 colony park...but it would not start! it sounded like it wanted to but, no go.i got out a heat gun because, i thought the fuel line froze but, no go. i hooked up my scanner to do a key off test. one code came up for the intake temp sensor...i put the heat gun to it for 15 min...and brum! it started up. has this happened to anybody else?

yea coolant temp sensors like to crap out in cold weather. i've replaced a bunch over the years.....have tried the heat gun methed also lol

1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

Where is the coolant sensor? and the intake temp sensor? Or is this the same sensor... This may be the problem with my car "hickupping" when it is cold....

the coolant temp sensor is located on the lower intake towards the front passenger side
the air temp charge sensor is located about center on the drivers side lower intake, you will also find the sender for the temp gauge on the drivers side of the lower intake
