If I was only back east, there would be no question as to who would be doing my tranny. The ammount of tech. info on this board is amazing, so when everyone says Brian is the man I believe them. On the other hand I now have access to a guy who works at aamco who does side work, so I think I can work something out.

that's the best bet is to find a tech that does side work.......brian works at a cottman full time and has his side buisiness in the eving hrs

I did. Had issues getting the shift mechanism to fit properly... I finally gave up and cut a big hole in the floorboard. I'll figure out a way to make it look less chopped up one day.

Freshmeat, does you car not have a casette player, but only a radio?

You are correct in that. I hate cassette players, but don't want an aftermarket CD player, so I keep the stock AM/FM. To be honest with you, I absolutely love it.

Lol, I know the feeling man - with that "scan" feature mine has I hardly ever run out of stuff to listen to. The only thing I use the cassete player for is to hook the laptop to the stereo so I can listen to weird shit that is usually not played on the radio.

91 LTD meant AOD swaps, not T5 swaps.

AODs fit fine. Its what the car came with, so it stands to reason they'll fit back in there OK. Provided you get one with the correct shift lever and tailshaft length, you're OK. What this means is you need one from a Crown Vic or Grand Marq to install in either of those cars. The only thing that needs to come out is the driveshaft and rear trans crossmember. If you have stock exhaust, there will be no clearance issues with it. Aftermarket exhaust, well, hard to say. I would suggest a transmission jack if you can get your hands on one, it makes getting it aligned easier, but you don't need one. Just be careful about what you're doing, line the torque converter studs up properly, and be sure the converter is pushed all the way onto the transmission's input shafts and it will be no problem.

While the tranny's out, this is probably the best time to swap on a higher-stall torque converter...
