    Rebuilt Motorcraft trannys?

So it's looking like I definately can't afford a bad ass racing tranny as bad as I would like one, am now thinking about going to local L/M dealer for rebuilt oe/cop tranny (my 91 was an undercover CHP car), either part # TRM62 or TRM73. I normally avoid dealerships but I remember having to pickup this scumbag cokehead producers car there one day and producers are the cheapest bastards on the planet. Any info would be wicked awesome, thanks.

Ditch the AOD. Get a T5.

You could get a good Wide Ratio AOD built in PA and shipped to you VIA UPS for less than a Reman tranny from ford. Most generic Joe's reman trannies are going to cost around 600-800 (if they are nice). Shipping for a tranny from Virginia to Florida through UPS was $92 last August.

The local tranny shop wanted $400-$500 to fix my burnt third gear. They wanted $2000 for a rebuilt AOD.

I had to make a decision and I'm going with a used, low mile AOD from a yard. They run about $200-$300 around here. I'll skip the labor charges and I'll put it in myself.

I love driving stick cars, but I want to keep my car an automatic. Traffic sucks with a stick.

Here's my problem dont have $2000 for a racing tranny as bad as I want one. For $1250 I can have a very reputable shop rebuild to stock specs BUT no supercoupe converter no shift kit etc., dont want stock performance cant afford badass dont know a rep shop to rebuild w/ shift kit etc.

That's way too much and you get pretty much nothing, for that amount might as well do Freshmeat's T5 swap and call it a day (you can live with the traffic jams, many other people do just fine with stick-shifts). AOD trannies rebuilt to stock specs are usually found on ebay for $600-800, so at that point there's aboslutely no reason why you'd feed a local place's money greed. I say get Scott's tranny guy phone number and talk to him directly.

Will talk on mon to my mechanic (havent had any probs other than tranny and forgot to get him in the loop ) and see if he knows anyone good for an a rebuild or at least an install as I may just order a tranny from phoenix hard parts (wicked cheap) or one of these http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...f8f4dc28d3c1a1
