88grandmarq had a Holley before he replaced it with the Explorer one, IIRC.

That holley was just a lower. No mods needed. I don't think any current members are running anything aftermarket. Most have stock HO intakes or the explorer intake. With the explorer, all I neded to do was redo some of the vacuum lines. The problem you run into is that most of the time you want to put a bigger throttle body on it, which requires a larger EGR spacer, which is nearly impossible to find a bolt in replacement for. To use a mustang EGR spacer, you need to make brackets and/or change all of the cables out.

so your saying that if i change it to the H.O. intake i have to get a larger EGR spacer and change all the cables out? how so?

The problem is that there is no larger spacer, the crown vic style spacer was car specific and no larger ones have been made. The stock one needs to be bored out in order to use the larger 58/60mm thottle body on HO engines so take full advantage of the extra air flow.

The HO intake's main bore is 60mm, vs. the Panther's 50mm. To match it the EGR spacer and the throttle body also have 60mm diameters, so if you keep the stock 50mm ones you are not really doing anything as they limit the airflow the intake plenum itself is capable of. To deal with that you have two options - bore the stock EGR spacer to 60mm and then take off the TB's cable plate and reweld it flipped to 180*, or just run stock HO spacer and TB and use longer cables. Most people here seem to go the first way, I did the second using Lincoln Mark VII cables looped so they come from the front of the engine:

With an HO intake, get the stock egr bored. With an aftermaket intake, when you want to run over a 60mm tb, then you run into issues. The only bolt in larger EGR is a 93-95 lightning (65mm), and they are rare as anything to find.

Actually, that's not true, Aussie fords use a vic style EGR and it's 60mm...Only ever seen one over here though on ebay.
