    Shift Kit - Down Shifts?

I have a question for those of you with shift kits in your transmissions, how has it improved the downshifting? My car waits forever to down shift and I find myself going from over drive to drive or even drive to second a lot more than I used to, its getting addicting. Im just afraid of wearing out the shifter and the linkage if I continue driving around this way.

You can adjust your valve body to shift later and downshift easier.

I've noticed that having the TV pressure higher, not only bumps up the shift points, but makes for much more reponsive downshifts, even with a shift kit.

        Yes.

For maximum performance, my TV pressure is set to full at WOT...that gives me the best quality shifts...

I have the TV pressure on the high side, with normal acceleration I dont shift into over drive until 55-58 mph.

That's a bit high. I like my 40mph OD shift. The shift "kits" in mine do seem to help with better downshifting.

I keep mine in D most of the time...

I drive in D if Im staying under 50mph or so but over 50 I let OD take control. There are a lot of hills in the area and the car trys to go up them in 3rd gear at about 35mph and there just isnt enough torque to maintain the speed.

With my tv set high and my hp kit, it downshifts real easy. I can barely touch the pedal and it will downshift, which is ok if your driving fast everywhere, but if you want to save gas and cruise it sucks.

About the speed at which the OD kicks in, don't forget it depends on the rear gears. In this case if Blaze's car has numerically higher gears the Nitroracer's one it will be moving slower when the OD shift occurs. Me having stock 3.08 gears and TV pressure almost maxed-out at WOT results in OD shift at as early as 45mph, and that's only if I let go of the accelerator, otherwise anywhere between 550 and 65mph. Downshifting is just right too, I was climbing some massive hills yesterday and had no problem at all, car was donwshifting just when the 3rd gear was running out of torque.

I've got 3.08s in my car as well, Im thinking about seeing if I can get more pressure on the TV cable... Gears would make more sense but this is free.

New gears may make more sense if you're driving mostly in the city, but if you're doing long freeway runs like me just leave them alone. With the stock I can cruise at 50mph all day long and not see the fuel gauge move one bit (perfect for country roads), on the freeway I just get in the right lane, set the cruise at 65mph, and drive with the 18-wheelers My current daily commute is like 2 miles with two trafic lights, so stock gears work just fine for now.

Makes me wish a two speed rear was easy and practical for doing stuff like this, or just a 5 speed transmission, double overdrive gears would rock.
