    belt tensioner pully?

i got new belts and a tensioner pully, i put the belts on but i can't figure out how to get the tensioner pully itself off of the bracket? is it one of those that i need to buy the whole bracket with the pully attached?

oh and btw, for some odd reason my car takes 600k6 and 505k6? i was told that it was 600k6 and 500k6, is there something different on my car to cause the different belt size?

Can you take a pic of the pully setup?

The factory pulley is riveted to the tensioner bracket, aftermarket pulleys are bolt on and will allow pulley only replacement.
To remove the tensioner assembly, you have to remove top swivel bolt (which is directly under the A/C compressor, on the front of the support bracket) and the tensioner bolt, which is located on the back side of the A/C support bracket. snake your hand under the back of the A/C compressor and you will feel the bolt. I use a short 9/16" socket on a long ratchet to get it out.

i got the assembly out, i was just wondering how i'm supposed to get the old pully off and the new one on, the part they gave me when i asked for the belt tensioner pully was just the pully itself.

oh and the bolt sizes were 15 mm and 9/16, 9/16 for the swivel bolt and 15 mm for the bolt under the a/c compressor

edit, heres a pic of what it looks like (taken from this site upon searching) thats what my assembly looks like but with the factory tensioner, i just pulled the tensioner bracket not the whole thing like in the pic.

You didn't need to remove that whole big bracket. When I bought my tensioner, they gave me the piece at the top which is the idler wheel and the small metal bracket with the square head hole in it only.

i know, lol, thats someone else's pic, i only pulled the small bracket that the pully is on, 2 bolts. what i'm asking is, is there a way to pull the old idler wheel off the factory bracket to install the new one like the pic shows cuz they only gave me the idler wheel, not a new bracket? again thats not my pic but my bracket and pully is the same cept my factory pully is still on there, not the new replacement that i have, thats what i'm trying to do replace the factory idler wheel with the new one i got!

I think the factory ones are riveted like mrltd said. If it doesn't have a bolt through the middle, you can't pull it off. Take the pulley back and get the right part. I had the same thing happen to me, but I lost the box for the pulley and couldn't return it. It was actually an idler for a Mark VII anyway, so I just gave it to a friend that has a few LSCs.

It should. Mine did, tho it wasnt an autozone purchase. Local mom and pop store got mine.

You can also just leave the belt off for a couple days. It only runs the AC and smog pump, neither of which is critical right now. Not hot enough to need AC, and the smog pump is not that big of a deal either.

i got the part in and installed it in the parking lot at autozone, lol, what a difference!!! i think the combination of new belts and a new tensioner really helped out cuz the screaching noise was the belts slipping under load! all is well now, starts up without a single abnormal noise!!
