        I'd be interested in a set for a 351W.

I don't know anything about headers. What's the difference between short and longtube headers? Just length? Is there an advantage either of the two have over the other?

Longtube headers are the really long ones that put the collector under the car. An example would be this

Shorty headers are what the name implies, short.

Longtube headers will get you a few more ponies and some more torque by keeping the exhaust pulses seperate or something for an increased scavenging effect. The downside being that they're simply large and awkward to install.

Not a clue what either of those are for, they're just what i found with a quick google image search for 'ford headers'.

those long tubes are most likely Mustang, they are deffinatly for a mod motor because of where the bolt holes are on the flange.

So basically... Put in a floor shifter and dent the tubes a bit for the steering linkage? Or is the steering gear to close to the block for that.

There is no denting of the #8, it would require the tube to be flattened. it has to be reloacted to inside of the linkage. Plus on a 302 car i thik the tubes might hit the frame in several places.

Apparently on the passenger side it interferes with the crossmember under the engine or something too.

With mine the passenger side fits fine, although if the upper control arm is all the way in in the adjusting slot it will hit the header. On a 302 there might be more clearence issues due to the lower deck height.
