I had to use spacers on the front of mine. I could have used longer studs but the where the center cap lip is hits the hub on the rotor. I'd rather have the back side of my wheels sit against something solid besides air. My are the 01 wheels as well.1989 Grand Marquis LS

I've been driving it the past few days and it seems to ride better. I don't hear that horrible tire riding on the sidewall sound in turns anymore, and as you know in Western NC it's pretty twisty out here, so it helps.
Since I can't run a slalom and give you numbers, I'll just say the 17" wheel and low profile tires really helps handling of a big boat car.

Yup those are pretty wheels
The Whale body swallows em up easier, plus your current spring setup was tweaked for the tiny wheels. Any old pics for comparison??

That looks great! They are a little big for me tho. I had no idea your car was a base model, either! Rock on! :jammin:
Oh, and dude....don't be afraid to post in the other forums. Your post isn't gonna get ignored like on CVN. Just sayin, this woulda been better for the wheel forum instead of 5.0 tech lol.'89 Ford LTD Crown Vic - '92 Ford F-150 Custom -

Admins can move it to the wheel forum if they want, I don't spend a lot of time on both sites, just the 5.0/5.8 tech forums, which I see as 'general box talk' so I put it here.
Chevyguy, the overall diameter of the wheels and tires is actually just a touch smaller than what was on the car (when I did the springs initially). It had some crummy 225/75/R15 tires on it. Big sidewall, terrible handling.

I think SAP wheels on the round whales just don't look as good. It's trying too hard not to be an old man car.
I haven't dynoed the car yet. I have maybe 1200 miles on the engine now (yeah, in a year ) so I just switched it over to synthetic oil. I need to fab up some exhaust tubing for my friends dyno, because his setup is only long enough to reach the rear / tailpipes area of a car, not side exits.
