First drive, then a tow to shop

Well, I picked up my 'new' 1990 Marq tonight, and then went for a drive. After about 20 mins, one of the front calipers locked up and started smoking. Pulle over and saw a small fire on caliper, but it went out!
Tire then blew from heat, Dam! welcome back to the old car hobby!

Had it towed to a shop and will probly get whole new front end. Well, at least I was only 2 miles form home,

There goes mod $$ But I will get my use out of car,

1990 is considered an old car? Damn I'm getting old...

With all these calipers sticking, I think I'll go back to drums! j/k

Maybe I'll take a look at mine this weekend and make sure everything looks alright.

3 days after gettin Baby, both of her calipers froze up. i forced her home and parked her. after her brakes locked up, i drove her to free them up. i didnt use the brake pedal to slow down knowing that they would stick again. instead i would downshift, or use the parking brake to slow down. worked better than fighting the fronts.

i know a guy that had an 86 CV and the car burnt to the ground from the caliper locking (but i guess he was too much of a fuckin dumbass to realize it was seized while he was driving it). When we pulled my parts car to the junkyard, both calipers caught on fire and i had to run back and forth with buckets of water at a gas station. good times good times.

When I got my car, the driver's front caliper was shot. I replaced it, the rotor, and the pads before it left the farm where it used to live. Literally the next day, the other caliper started to drag. It didn't get hot enough to burst into flame, but it was pulling and it had massive brake fade on that side.

I had one caliper lag on its aplication, so I replaced both, and I have never had another problem from them.

Damn! that just happened to me yesterday when I drove the vic. She had been sitting all winter, just moved around the barn here and there. She started to lock up on my way to the gas station. I was almost there when she was doing it. Got there, let her sit, Then drove across the street to the do it yourself car wash and blasted all that shit till it was cold (don't worry, it wasn't hot enough to crack the rotor). Then I drove all the way home without using my brakes. Its all about the downshift and timing yo.

i already said i had to do that w/ mine. i had to downshift and use the parking brake. with that type of experience now, i should be able to do some good slides like i was doing trying to get home. of course i live on gravel so it looked like a dukes of hazzard type move.

My Celica pulls pretty hard to the left when i hit the brakes, but its from the lack of application of the right caliper I'd fix it, but i dont want to put money into it since the Lincoln has a new brake system

My truck jerks to the left for a moment when I first apply the brakes. The line to the right caliper is crushed where it goes along the engine crossmember. I think the chain from the tow dolly smashed it. Its on my list of things to deal with as soon as possible, since I kinda worry about that line exploding on me.
