I want to say 1/2 or 5/8" pipe thread probably. Just take the sensor with you when you go to buy the tap, they can match the size and threads with a thread guage.

      2 things for you....

      1. you can not tap a header and expect anything to hold. You need to weld a O2 bung to it.

      2. 18 x 1.5 mm straight thread is the universal O2 sensor thread size.

Pipe thread jumps from 1/2" to 3/4" NPT

The material is not strong enough to hold threads.

You have to do as said, and weld an O2 boss onto it. They are like $6 at advance. drill, weld, done.

Yeah, headers are very thin. It will just rip out without the sensor bunghole there. And put anti-sieze on the threads. I drilled my pipes past the header that way I didn't have to worry about punching through one of the tubes. Might be easier. OTOH, if you're using some sort of Mustang H pipe to mate to those headers (because the stock exhaust won't fit quite right) it should have a sensor bung already, so all this is a moot point.

The O2 boss is readily available at almost all parts stores, and it's more proffesional looking. Also, welding a nut on there works, I had mine like that for years, but it puts the O2 sensor at the wrong depth (may or may not effect it). But for $10-$12 might as well get the bungs and do it right.
