    Transgo or B&M?

I'm planning on getting a shift kit for my merc and I'm wondering which shift kit is better...
    (better meaning really firm shifts)

I looked on jegs and found a B&M shift kit for '80-'92 AOD transmissions for $32.
I also found a Transgo shift kit on summitracing for $120.
both are shift improver kits but is the Transgo one worth all that money?
or can I make the tires bark just as easy between shifts with the B&M for a lot less money?

    thanks for any input!

You are looking at the Transgo AOD-HP kit. I know at least one person on here who uses it...

You can get the regular transgo kit for like 25 bucks i think.

    B&M kits suck.

I got my transgo shift improvement kit on Ebay for something like $30.

As for my input on the transgo, it took me forever to install it, seeing as how I had no idea what I was doing, but when it was in the trans shifts like a dream now. The instructions were written for someone who is a transmission mechanic, so some of the terms and instructions may be hard to understand to someone who's never done one of these. Other than that, it's a good kit, although mine happened to be missing the slugs that were supposed to be with it for a part of the install, but I was able to get along without them, so it wasn't a major problem.

I got my Transgo shift kit on eBay. I think the shop selling them is Oregon Performance Transmission or something.

A shift that breaks the tires loose is not helping you it is actually hurting you. The power that should be used to accelerate you is instead being use to spin the tires. My tranny shifts fast and firm but does not snap your head. Jason went for a ride in my car with the new tranny.

No bark, but its firm. You also have to take into account the fact the tranny has a crapload of mileage on it..

I've got the transgo in my 4r70w and I loves it. I put a Bowl&Movement in my chevelle and it sucked. Could just be a th350/aod thang. The B&M was nothing more than a separator plate and check balls, transgo was much more involved.

You know guys, Duce brings a good point here. Plus there is the whole deal with bushings for the planetary gears being aluminum and not brass, too hard of a shift all the time will eventually damage those.
