    mustang header issues

    Refer to the pic below.

Now, I've been told that these headers where from a '93/'94 Mustang due to the hole on the passenger side header. I can get a plug for ~$3 for it. No big deal.

    1. You can see a notch below, above the 3rd hole in from the right. That hole is 3/8". The rest are 1/2". What size bolts are used on our cars? What is the story behind this hole size difference?

    2. O2 sensor wires. I've ordered a set for an '88 Lincoln Mark VII. What I'd like to know is, does anyone have any actual length numbers so I can make sure I'm getting the right ones?

    3. Scott, if these headers are crap for me, what would you charge to send me a set, if you have them?

My header install was supposed to be this weekend, but now I'm stuck . . . again.

Son of a bitch. I can't use these headers. I went down and checked on the car. The bolts are 3/8". Why the hell are these headers drilled out at 1/2"? Now I have to try and sell these and find another pair.

Scott, I come back to you, if you have headers, how much you want for 'em?

Put a washer under the bolt head. A 3/8" bolt has a 9/16" head.

Yeah man, as long as you have at least one 3/8" hole on each side you can get them aligned properly, hell you can do it even with all of them being 1/2-ers. Go get yourself some bolts with hatted heads, or just do what Duce said.

WHOA... dude, relax. It's just header bolts. The header you pictured is indeed from a 94-95 car. They work fine on a panther chassis, we used a set on Adam's 85 2dr when the motor was put in, they bolted up perfectly to the Mustang H-pipe he bought.

as for header bolts, you have 2 choices. 1) re-use the factory manifold bolts, all you have to do is cut the long ones to the same length as the short ones. 2) use some sort of washer around the aftermarket header bolts

Bump. Might be putting these in this week.

List of things I'll need (speak up if I miss something):
-bolts **How long should they be?**
                    -gaskets
                    -antisieze compound
-plug for hole on right header
-Oxygen sensors for '88 Lincoln Mrk VII
-brass nuts for header to H-pipe studs

Chances are that I'll order stuff tomorrow and go from there.

get some exhaust cement and use a little on the collector ball, mine leaks just the slightest bit, a touch of that, and i mean a touch, like, one finger dab inside the flange, and all is well, might just be a light ding or something, but it sucked having to put it on only to take it back off, lol

Monty-The header bolts I bought from summit were somewhere around 1 1/4"-1 1/2" inches long, something like that.

i bought some bbk's from a friend. he took em off his 91 lx pony and well im most likely gonna try and fit em into my vic. any issues im gonna run into guys? since most of you might already have headers installed. as i was lookin at mine and his, these bbks dont have a hole for the oxygen sensor. am i gonna have to drill one out? and like monty, how long bolts am i gonna have to buy?

your oxygen sensor you go into ur h-pipe... The h-pipe should come with holes in them for teh O2 sensors. All you have to do is extend the wire some..
