    lower radiator hose

    Hi,
I just bought hoses for my 91 GM 5.0 and the NAPA #7530 lower hose didn't have any spring inside it.

Is it me or isn't there supposed to be a metal spring inside the lower radiator hose.

    Thanks

If you shop around a bit, I would expect that another store will have a hose with a spring. If not, use your old spring.

Is that spring there to ensure the hose keeps its shape (prevent from crumbling) under the vacuum created by the water pump?

Yup, thats why its there, to prevent hose collapse. The hose I put on my car came from NAPA I think and its got a spring, but no reason you can't use the old one.
