AOD to C6 swap?

My truck has a c6 in it. I pulled it out cause I broke it and it used to have an AOD. A c6 makes an aod look tiny. I have a pic of the tranny next to my truck.

I've seen my share of C6's, all of them were good. But for a small block, get the C4 anyday. They used to be somewhat weak (aka wouldn't handle a 390)when they first came out in '64, but they make so many aftermarket parts for the C4 now, it's crazy. I saw them for sale in the Summit Catalog with a lifetime warranty. If I needed a C4, I'd get that one. It was only ~$800.

How about a Ford-a-matic 2-speed from back in the day? You really only need two gears .

The $800 PA does not have the lifetime warrenty. i have the $1200 PA, you have to get the super-comp C4 for the lifetime warrenty. the super-comp is around $1700

I thought that $800 sounded like a super deal for a tranny with a lifetime warranty. The $1700 sounds more like it. I wonder if it is one of those useless warranties that doesn't protect against normal wear and tear, as well as abuse? I know the local postman around here goes through a tranny a year because it's all first-second-stop, first-second-stop, etc. He would stand to benifit from that lifetime warranty, even if the transmission did cost more to begin with.

That $1700 tranny is a manual valve body. I would not recomend it to anyone who has to drive a lot.

He should just leave it in D1 under about 25mph

im planning on going c6. i already have one in my backyard. i just toasted a trans a couple months back, so i like the idea of one i CANT blow.
