Have to change driveshaft, I think it would need to be shorter and the output yoke on the tranny is frickin huge.

There's a guy on CVN with a 460 mated to a C6 in his box. He was able to use the tranny mount for the AOD, but he had to drill some holes. I don't remember what he did for a driveshaft though. Oh yeah, the car ran like crap and was only making a little over 200hp last I heard of it.

If you are swapping you are better off swapping to a C4. The C6 is strong but it's one power hungry mother! And it's definately heavy!!

The V8 C4 trans is light, strong and uses less HP to operate. But this is just my .

If you use a C6, it would be better behind an engine that puts out a good amount of power to make up the difference

But with the C4 you'd have that much more hp to work with.

My C4 is light enough to pick up alone no prob. The AOD takes a lot more work. A C6, you better get a friend or two.

I'm with Fordman. The C4 is the way to go. Just look at what Duce is running and he's on a C4. Granted, his is kinda built, but the C6 is built for big blocks. They require more than twice the HP to turn over than a C4 (roughly 64hp compared to 28hp, from what a Mustang builder told me) and are freaking huge. Go with a C4 like Duce did.

Plus the C4 are pretty damn easy to rebuild yourself if you ever need to.

I've seen my share of C6's, all of them were good. But for a small block, get the C4 anyday. They used to be somewhat weak (aka wouldn't handle a 390)when they first came out in '64, but they make so many aftermarket parts for the C4 now, it's crazy. I saw them for sale in the Summit Catalog with a lifetime warranty. If I needed a C4, I'd get that one. It was only ~$800.

How about a Ford-a-matic 2-speed from back in the day? You really only need two gears .
