'89 CV exhaust - what to do?

The exhaust is in fairly rough shape from the cats back on the '89. I have the following options:

    1. Use the spare Y-pipe from the '88 and run single straight pipe out the back.
    2. Use the spare Y-pipe from the '88 and run a long glass pack out the back.
    3. Reuse the muffler that's on there (if it's in good enough condition) and just replace the bad piping.
    4. Suck it up and yank the dual straight pipes off S.U. and put 'em on the CV.

Have to keep this fairly inexpensive. The Y-pipe is shot on the CV. The Y-pipe off of S.U. is in great shape. The pipe over the axle seems alright, so that can be reused. The muffler looks to be okay, but it's one of those big, ugly mofos that just looks like ass on the car.

What I'd like to do is replace the Y-pipe, measure from there to the section over the axle, buy a long glass pack and a section of pipe. Clamp it and be done. Total cost should be no more than $60 for pipe, pack, and clamps.

So, what's the overall opinion on glass packs? If you call them "ass-packs" I'll masturbate into a cup and mail it to your mother. :thefinge:

Option #2. Unless the muffler is like new. I love glasspacks on 302s. They don't sound right on chevys but the 302 has such a sexy mellow tone to it. I needs to put some on my vic fo sho.

Assuming SU is your "toy" just leave her exhaust alone for now. The Crown Viv becomes a DD, correct? Then you probably don't want it too loud, so I'd rule out the straight pipe idea. Install the spare Y-pipe for sure, and put some nice "turbo" muffler at it. If you want to be heard before seen and still not damage your hearing then go install a glasspack. If you put a muffler you souldn't need any extra piping, now the glasspack is gonna be a little trickier, but you'll get away with less than $60 no problem.

$15 Summit turbo muffler. Thats what I'll be running on my car because I'm a poor bastard. If I don't like them, hell I can always change them later.

GL, if Justin isn't interested in those, I might be. What kinda shape they in?

On topic: I don't wanna see you rip the duals off of SU, so I'll say stick the y on there with a glasspack.

Boxman & GL, I'll pass on those glass packs.

I'll have to check around for prices tomorrow while I'm running errands. Couple years ago I talked to a guy with an F-150. He ran single exhaust with a long glass pack and it sounded really good. Nice and mellow, not annoying.

Keep the duals on Super Unknown.

I'd run the spare y-pipe and a glasspack.

                        I second all above.

And ask people how GMGT sounds with dual glasspacks on a 302. Pretty nice.
