I just did the full HO conversion on my 89 Lincoln with 63K. Now when its at low RPM's there is little to no power and the whole car shakes in a rhythmic pattern until RPM's rise. Also when I'm braking and the car shifts out of overdrive it clunks noticably. Ran smooth as glass before the HO conversion, whats up?

Most AOD trannys have some sort of clunk going in and out of OD, as for the power, possibly an exhast leak somewhere? Don't forget that HO's have a higher torque band than lopos, but I'm guessing you knew that already. just my $0.02. Oh yea...TV cable?...maybe?Nick

Could be a sensor if TV cable wasn't touched. I just replaced the coolant temperature sensor in my car, and it was doing pretty much the same thing. Low rpm shudder, downshifting in slow speed traffic (45-20-5mph) was kinda clunky too. The car also couldn't find its idle either, even with the sensor connected. Drove around the other day after I fixed it and ran and shifted smooth with no problems.Current rides - 1991 Ford Thunderbird 3.8 v6 (gas saver/DD) - New Heads/Headgaskets with ARP studs, Air Silencer Delete, 70mm MAF, Plasti-dipped Matte Black with a Silver Metalflake Overlay, Muffler Delete, some LED's, 30.233 MPG for high MPG average!

More pressure. It'll let the trans downshift so it doesn't labor along like that. My car does the same crap with the tv set wrong, and its a trans with an HO governer. I bumped mine up last night because I got tired of that crap. Its actually slightly too high and it'll drive at like 35 mph in second unless I get off the gas totally to force a shift. Before it was shifting into OD by 40 mph, which sucks.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

EXACTLY, my car wants to go into overdrive too early for the mustang cam, its still set for the OPC (old people cam) hah. How do I go about changing TV pressure safely?1989 Lincoln Town Car - "Anabelle" - Original block, .030 over with SpeedPro pistons, rods fitted with ARP hardware, FRPP +volume oil pump, GT-40 3bar heads, Crane 1.72 rockers, 89' Fox cam, 93' Cobra lower intake, Explorer upper and 65mm TB, 93' Lightning EGR spacer, K&N intake kit from a 4.0L Ranger, 19lb/hr injectors w/ 87 Mark VII ECM, cat/smog deletes, Big Brake conversion, 3.55 K-Code Trac-Lok/Disc brake rear axle, CVPI LCA's w/1" sway bar in rear, wagon front sway bar, BBK 2.5" off-road H-Pipe, Flowmaster super 40s, HPP wheels, 3G alternator w/LMR.com wiring kit, gear reduction starter conversion, Best 1/4 time: 16.0 @ 85mph.
