    Lifter question

Okay, so hopefully sometime next week or the next after that, I will be getting GL back (cross your fingers mangs) and soon after that (when I get another job, again, cross your fingers) I want to start pulling the engine and doing the 4BBL/head/cam swap. Heres the question: can I use stock lifters with my cam? It's a Comp Cams 4X4 truck cam (.477/493 lift, 210/218 dur). I can't seem to find the right lifters in the summit catalog, is it alright to get new stock lifters and use those, or do I have to get aftermarket?

    Thanks mangs

Flat tappet lifters are burned in at the first engine fire up and sort of form themselves to the cam lobes. If you get a new cam, you need to get new lifters. Speed Pro HT-9000 is the part # i believe. about $45-50 for a full set. The local parts chains shoudl have them, its a common Ford flat tappet lifter.

RIP Jason P Harril, we'll miss ya bro

I thought he was saying he's replacing them either way and was curious whether he can use stock type or aftermarket.
Definitely replace, but stock type should do fine.

Chris has a good point. I wouldn't be too surprised if you can find a late model roller block that needs a crank kit or something for next to nothing. Then you can do your motor up on a stand and dump it in the car whenever its ready.

Nope. you will also need a distributor as the roller cams are hardened.
