    Defective Injector

So I finaly got to diag my car today. Fuel pressure is great. Found it to be a bad injector (#5 cylinder). So now is the decision to either replace all of them, or just go ahead and replace the #5. Either way I'm going to replace with an stock replacement.

One thing that bothers me is that this engine since day one has had this glitch, but up untill a couple of months ago it was limited to once a month at the most....this means that this injector has probobly been defective since day one... :cuss: I'm leaning towards replacing all of the injectors...but that's $200...I dunno..

Cleaning the injectors isn't going to help..it's actually defective. So even if I sent it to be refurbished, it would most likely be replaced by them. I have considered that, but the price is more than a new set of OEM Ford Racing injectors.

            :stupid:

My used ones seem to work OK, 'cept for the one thats leaky, and that I'm more inclined to blame on a bad O ring than anything. You should have the F0 injectors, which have a 4-way spray pattern. I snagged a set of those from a newer 4.6 Vic to replace mine. If you're on a budget, all the 4.6L cars have 19 lb injectors. I'd reccomend getting the rebuild kit, which is just the pintle cap, spacer, and O rings and change that stuff out.

And good idea on retaining the stock injectors. Bigger injectors on a stock motor does nothing and will more than likely actually hurt performance than anything else.

Yep, 19# injectors are good to about 300hp, so there is no need for me to upgrade to 21# or 24#.
