    timing cover leak

Well its the timing cover on both sides, must've ruptured a bit when I retorqued the water pump and put the belts on. This is kinda bad but it means IM GOING ALL THE WAY!! Full HO conversion!! Yeah I figured if im all the way in there again, I might as well stick in a cam and a new timing chain. The heads don't have to be removed for a cam swap do they? IIRC you can just pull out the lifters or pull them up enough to be out of contact with the cam.

With the intake off and heads on, you can remove the lifters fine.

What he said. Just need to pop the intake, valve covers, and rocker arms. Loosen/remove the rockers to get the pushrods out, Undo the hold-down spider in the lifter galley, then the retainers and lifters will come right out. It would be a good idea to load the cam up with assembly lube when re-installing. If you have a handle (I used a side handle for a Milwaukee drill) to thread into the end of the cam, it will make it go a little easier. Try to keep it as centered as possible so as not to bang up the cam bearings.

88grandmarq has done this with the engine in the car, and he told me the radiator also needs to come out, and the AC condensor unfastened and pushed aside for clearance.
