For the past 2 weeks my car has a strong odor of gasoline. I know for fact I am not leaking, but when I did my rear shocks, I noticed a rubber line coming form the top of the tank that wasnt attached to anything. I dont think it should be disconected like that. Any ideas or anything else to check?

Its more in the back than the front. I have CFI too, so no injector O rings.

Most likely the vapor return line... I think that runs on the driver side frame rail and back to the tank. take a flash light and see if you can see where the line might attach.

I have no leaks, but I will check it again. The smell isnt inside, it is very strong outside. It never did this before now it does.

Could be either the vent line cracked as 88grandmarq metioned, or one of the fuel lines rotting away leaking a bit. And there is the possibility of injector O rings leaking. I think CFI cars still have injector O rings, but if they leak it will just drip down the throttle bore, so not a big deal really. Just runs a little rich.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Well shit man, I might be coverting sooner than I thought. I found out today my gas tank is the leak that I saw in the snow. So I'm gonna rip the one out of my parts vic. Which means depending on how cheap I can get the parts to do it, I might convert it over my christmas break since I'll already have the tank down to switch the pick up. Ebay has a ton of cheap parts that will work. I'm considering a cast iron manifold for now. There is one that has been ported and still looks OK. I found a bunch of stuff for distributors, including an entire 78 LTD igniton. I also found a new fuel pump and timing cover for cheap too. I might just do this after all. I am also considering a summit camshaft for it too temporarily till I rebuild the roller block.
