Hey all I just got through running my Lincoln around the block. She idles fine and runs smooth on acceleration, but THERE IS NONE!!! When I put it in drive and let the car coast forward, it lurches slightly like its not getting enough gas. I gave almost 1/2 throttle and she didn't move like she should, just got really loud. Currently I am running open headers, no oxygen sensors, but everything else put back right. The throttle cable is correct I checked it while my dad floored it. I am running 14lb/hr injectors, stock cam, stock computer with mustang E7 heads/intake/tb/egr/headers. Any ideas guys??

Make sure the distributor is installed correctly and the ignition timing is correct. check for proper fuel pressure.
also check the TV cable. make sure it moves in conjunction with the throttle.
You may not have full power, because there are no 02 sensors and the ECM is confused.2003 Town Car Signature - 3.27 RAR, Dual exhaust and J-mod - SOLD 9/2011

There was another guy on here that did the same E7 swap and had the same issue. I think he ended up with an AFPR and tweaked the pressure to get it happy. Search past threads, I want to say it was Matthew, and the car was the Loveboat. Also, the lack of backpressure and O2 sensors isn't helping. And yeah, +2 on the timing.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

okokokokokok. I did not change the timing at all when I did my work, and it ran flawlessly before, but I will buy a light and check it anyways. Yes my battery was disconnected a few times so the ECU probably has nothing in it. I have the O2 sensors and the mustang H-pipe that I will put on tommorrow.1989 Lincoln Town Car - "Anabelle" - Original block, .030 over with SpeedPro pistons, rods fitted with ARP hardware, FRPP +volume oil pump, GT-40 3bar heads, Crane 1.72 rockers, 89' Fox cam, 93' Cobra lower intake, Explorer upper and 65mm TB, 93' Lightning EGR spacer, K&N intake kit from a 4.0L Ranger, 19lb/hr injectors w/ 87 Mark VII ECM, cat/smog deletes, Big Brake conversion, 3.55 K-Code Trac-Lok/Disc brake rear axle, CVPI LCA's w/1" sway bar in rear, wagon front sway bar, BBK 2.5" off-road H-Pipe, Flowmaster super 40s, HPP wheels, 3G alternator w/LMR.com wiring kit, gear reduction starter conversion, Best 1/4 time: 16.0 @ 85mph.

Timing should be set a 10 degrees BTDC with the spout connector pulled.

I had this same problem, I would bet you with 90% certainty, that you set your timing without pulling the spout (spark output) jumper. YOu can search "spout" for threads with pictures of what it is. If you did pull the spout and set to 10 degrees or mores of ADVANCE, then just ignore this post. Like I said I had the same problem, and Just 5 degrees of advance can make a big difference. I think when I pulled the spout jumper, I found my timing to be off by 12 degrees if I remember right, so it is absolutely essential top do that.
I did the same halfway conversion as you, everything but cam, injectors, and ecm. The car makes good power, I doubt the full on conversion would be much more power.
Also, I severely doubt you have a problem with your injectors, it is possible, but I doubt it. My AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) was a cool gadget, but turned out to be unnecessary.
Good luck, I think you will be happy with the results when you get her dialed in. I got more satisfaction from the improvement with more gear (3.27) than the engine mods though.1991 GM GS sedan "Love Boat" HO converted, Holley adjustable fpr, 3.27 Trac-lok - RIP

You guys might find that funny, but I don't know how to check and/or adjust my timing - would anyone be kind enough to explain that? I know it involves pulling the spout connector, using a timing light, looking at the marks on the harmonic balancer, and rotating the distributor, but what is the exact procedure? I'm asking cause some time ago my TFI module went bad and I had to rotate the distributor so I can get it out, and I'm not really sure that when puttig it back I got the correct timing.

Oh, and on the backpressure question - does running only pre-cats (I lost the real cats earlier this week) with nothing behind them give a stock 5.0 enough backpressure, or I have to fab me some restrictors? It feels that I've lost some low-end torque, cause the car doesn't pick up speed as fast as before... Of course all that sand ballast in the trunk might have something to do with it, but I still wanna make sure I get the backpressure thing right.
