    Coil mounting location??

I Need a good place to mount my coil. Can't be too far from the distributor.

It is a canister style coil...

I got the canister coil, so I cannot mount it any which way...

Get a bracket and mount with an intake bolt.

Only use an intake bolt if it is a stud style like our oil pickup or an exhaust bolt for a heat shield which you torque down first, then use a nut to hold the coil bracket down.
A canister can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

The only reason i said it is because my old pickup had it like it.

You don't have AC anymore correct? Attach it right to the front of the head where the AC brackets used to be. Big 'ol dead spot right there.

This is where I put mine. You can't tell from the pic, but the coil is tilted a little with the tower pointing down. No problems so far.

I don't think they are that sensitive of a piece of equipment. You can see where the coil is located on my Dad's 61, and that's the stock location and angle.

That's pretty much where it was on my 62 GMC lol. Cept it was mounted vertically.

If it was a TFI style coil it could be mounted upside down like mine, but no you had to get a cannister :P
