    governer

    is there a govener on a 1988 crown victoria 5.0 if so is it removeable and how do i remove it? i went 85-88 and it cut off on the e-way.

      You know we seem to be hearing a lot about this situation but we have never found a cause. No one thinks there is a limiter on the 89-91s but there are a few cases of them acting like they have one.

        could easily be a fuel delivery problem, pump or filter. I can definatley say that my 87, 88, 89, and 91 did not have governors on them. They saw plenty of triple digit speeds. I have the points to prove it.

            If you want to get technical, yes, they do have a governer, however its in the transmission and is a critical part in making it work. It has nothing to do with the speed of the car. My 86 had no governer with the stock engine. I had wound that pig up over 100 with the old motor once or twice. Just took a while to get there and it was really running out of steam by the time the speedo stopped on the shift indicator.
