    HO swap question

What about the wiring harness? If I go from an 85 CFI to a later EFI are the wiring harnesses the same? Plug and Play perhaps?

      Figured as much.
Frustrates me there isn't much to do with the CFI.

Figures the one ultra-low mileage, super cheap, super clean wagon I find would have the worst fuel system available.

        carb swap

a motorcraft 2150 carb will bolt right onto the CFI intake and it will properly mate up with the tv rod no problem. tom did it, and his car threw down 17x horsies to the dyno.

as long as the emissions equipment on the car right now is functioning properly and you tune the carb properly it wont be an issue

What kinda emissions do you have in your county? Here, it's just a visual and everything needs to appear to be in working order. Unless you know a couple people who don't give a shit about stinkin emissions, like I do.

Maybe I could find someone to do the HO swap in exchange for a 30000 mile 5.0

There did exist 5.0 HO CFI motors. Pete has the ECM for one, would just be a matter of swapping the cam. Probably also use e7 heads instead of whatever they had, e5 I guess. You could probably get away with just the head swap and have it run OK. That and swap a better intake, probably like a 4bbl intake with a 2bbl adapter and a set of headers and get away with it still being a CFI engine. Wouldn't be a super powerhouse but it should have a bigger pair than it sports now in any case.
