Thats an old drag racers trick. Ive done it to many of my cars. The best part is not when you floor it you are actually going wide open throttle lol.

I do it because the pedal is so far down relative to the brake pedal. The diesel wasn't going wide open without the tie either, despite making all the proper adjustments to the way too freaking complicated throttle linkage system.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
