    Leaky fuel fitting

    Hello--

About 6 months ago, I crawled under my '86 tc to change the fuel filter. Since it is / was a michigan car, some of the items under the car have become rusty, including the hardware for the bracket that goes around the fuel filter. After mangling it out of the way (one bolt wouldnt come out), I proceeded to remove the plastic elbow fittings that go onto the filter. I got one off successfully; however, the o-ring that goes into the elbow got messed up on the other fitting (the one after the filter / going to the engine). I found another o-ring that was close, and it lasted about 6 months. But now, it is dripping once every 2-3 seconds. More than what I'm comfortable with.

Should I find another o-ring that is close, or is there a part number I should look up...? Or should I bypass that line all together with a section of rubber fuel pressure line? I wouldn't be against that since the return line already got replaced, and the metal sending line going to the motor is pretty toasty in some places.

I'm pretty sure the fuel injector O rings are the right size. Should be able to get a pack of those for small money, and they will of course be fuel compatible. Not all rubbers are.

There is actually an acceptable fuel leakage rate. Its zero drips per decade.

Are you referring to the little one that goes into the rail, or the one that seals the injector in the block? If it is the block one, I'm not sure what to ask for when I go into the auto store. I just got all the parts to do an HO conversion, and I'd like to replace all the rubber on the donor injectors I got. I know they have the small fuel rail o-rings, but I couldn't find the bigger ones.

They should be the smaller one.

Its the same size on both ends of the injector.

As it happens, I have a bunch of the injector O-rings, so I can tell you this: yes, it's the same on both ends, and Standard Motor Products SK14 is a pack of 2 of said O-rings.

Reckon ebay would have a shitload of said injector O-rings. Something like this perhaps, although there are kits with O-rings and pintles and shit for the injectors too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-INJECT...RYkMBZ&vxp=mtr

parts stores will have or can get that easy enough. That style fuel injector was used on a huge number of vehicles.
