    Oil pressure sending unit

    Mines leaking. I may try and switch in a new one today. Will oil poor out it if I unscrew it?

      No. A lot of oil will not come out. The pan is lower than the idiot light sensor so the bulk of the 5 quarts is all below it.


      That idiot light sensor lights up at 5psi or so. Its basically an on or off.

      Sensors, sense while sending units send varying amounts of resistance to ground. At least that is how I describe them.

          For the three of them that I've changed out I have hardly even had a drip of oil. And I did use the special oil pressure sending unit socket

            Change it out to be safe. I had the center guts blow out on one that was a dripper that I would just wipe up. When it let go, plenty of smoke and a geyser of oil.
