5.8L production numbers?

Does anybody know how many LTD Crown Victorias were produced with a factory 5.8L? I'm considering selling mine so that led me to wonder if the factory 5.8L makes the car more rare or valuable?

I used to have access to info that could get us close. It told me the percentage of each model year that had the different engine options. Someone that works at an auto parts store may have access to that still. With that percent and the production numbers in my signature, that could get us close.

The 5.8 is more uncommon but not really more valuable to most people.

I agree with Tiggie, the 5.8 is probably a small percentage of total production.
But I doubt there are many guys out there willing to pay extra for it.

You haven't been watching these things go for stupid money on Ebay then. All you gotta do is jazz it up with "Has the rare 5.8L engine" and they'll throw money at it. Only we enthusiasts know it doesn't add any value.

I think the rarest of this breed are the civilian Canadian aero-box Mercurys with 5.8s from the factory. They may be worth a bit more than other box panther cars but because 50 states police cars often had 5.8s as well as a decent proportion of Canadian civilian '83-'87 Fords. Those wouldn't be worth much more, if any more, than a 5.0 car. Try doing what Derek said when you post it for sale and see what happens. The mods you have done to your car will likely help more than the fact it has a 5.8, and you could also tell how much you have invested in mod parts. Truth of it is, these cars are creeping up in value but aren't really worth serious money yet.

They are creeping up in value indeed. So are barges apparently. Don't forget to say, "Lots of power."

In the States the only was to get the 5.8 in an LTD after 1984 was in the police car, and even still most came with the 5.0. You could not even order it. Fleet only option. I don't even think it was available in the wagon.
