, wish I could just shitcan my smog pump. Why does California have to suck so bad? Glad to hear you've located and eliminated the problem. Burnouts are a solid plus too!

If you're going to leave the smog pump on there for a while and run a smaller belt.
You'll need to remove the smog pump pulley, the new shorter belt will rub on it if you don't.

run the belt over the pulley instead of under the pulley. Works fine.

Anyone know the best way to get the belt on? Can't get it over the a/c clutch

Did you loosen the tensioner and swing it out of the way first? The bolt comes in from the back side.

I loosened the bolt on the far left of the tensioner and it won't budge...is there another one I'm missing?

yes... reach around the BACK of the mounting plate. There's a bolt on the BACK. The bolt you loosened was the pivot bolt, not the bolt that actually holds the thing in place. 14mm IIRC too.

Thanks! I actually found it earlier. I actually had to loosen the bolt behind the tensioner AND remove the pivot bolt to get the belt to go on, but it worked and once it went on it had alot more slack. I was surprised I was able to adjust that and the alternator the first time without it squeeling. Never been able to do that before. But anyhow, thanks for the help yall! It's good to know that even though I don't have a panther anymore, I can still get help when I'm working on my brother's.

That whole setup is such a whore! When I do my engine swap I'm going to HO accessories, so much easier.
