I woke up yesterday morning and started the wagon. The one that used to be Bernie's and Pirranah's.
The electric fan controller started smoking. I said that's it, time to change it out. At the junkyard I grabbed a fan blade, fan clutch and fan shroud from an 88 Town Car. I put it all on yesterday and changed the antifreeze. Everything seemed to fit. I plan on changing the fan clutch out to a new one ASAP.
The temp gauge shows warmer with the stock fan.
With the electric fan the gauge needle would be midway, with the stock fan it moves a little more to the right. It stays between the M and the A in NORMAL.
One question is, can I use a severe duty fan clutch?
The catalogs show that a severe duty fan clutch is for use with a fan blade with a 2 1/2 inch pitch to it. I don't think the Town Car fan clutch has that much pitch.
Does anyone know what the pitch is for Town Car fan blade?
Any recommendations of brand for a fan clutch?
Thank you,
Mike
