Hello again,
The problem with the battery light being always on and battery draining over night turned out to be in the main wiring harness and connectors on the alternator. That is now fixed.
I took it to an electrical shop to fix. They reported the problems as the wiring harness was bad and the connectors to the alternator were bad also. Since this was a speedometer shop, I asked them to calibrate the speedometer. When I was going 40 I actually was going 60. I remembered I had the 140 speedometer on the shelf. I took it up to the shop and they replaced it too. That afternoon when I picked up the car, a rain storm had started. As I drove away from the garage, the car was running like shit. I drove one block and returned it . This was July 3rd. They pulled some codes and said the coolant sensor was bad, also said the electronic timing sensor / spout connector was bad too. After replacing the ECT the check engine light went off for the first time in a year. They now say the timing sensor is okay. I had replaced the ECT along with other sensors about 6-7 months ago. They did a smoke test and now they say a vacuum hose is off under the intake and smoke showed around the master cylinder.
I attached a video of the car running before I dropped it off the first time. I think it was running fairly good.
Now it runs like the timing is off, coughing and backfiring
Could it be the vacuum hoses?
Thank you again,
Mike
PS on the plus side the 140 speedometer looks great.
