Charge them for the "core" too. Along with time lost having to take it to the other mechanic.

      That is the plan.

Meanwhile, they responded to my BBB claim. You guys ain't gonna believe this one.
Under the hood of this 1986 Merc Marquis is a rats nest of open wiring. Cut wire..?? Which one.?? Mr O'Hara was asked to leave his vehicle with us overnight so we could adjust the choke when cold, no charge. Mr.O'Hara refused to do this. Furthermore, Mr. Ohara also accused our shop of deliberatly tampering with electrical system to "scam" unsuspecting customers, and generate more work.? On an '86 Mercury Marquis, full of garbage, filthy, and falling apart.? "I see that point was left out.

3 sides actually. the truth is always the 3rd side. preferably you want your side to be as close to that as possible.

I know some shops will flat-out refuse to work on a car that is over a certain age. It's a liability thing on the shop's part. I'm not allowed to take my car back to a certain shop for that exact reason. I wrote a bad yelp review of the shop after an employee stole $500 of audio equipment and the owner refused to do anything about it. The owner was "offended" and didn't want me to come back and potentially write another bad review.

The shop may not deliberately try to scam people. More often it's them being morons who don't know what they're doing with the car.

Well, Canadian Tire has agreed to cover $500 of my repair bill.

This is fair, as it effectively covers my having to have the repair done completed.

After it's said and done, my car is fixed for $368.

real pisser, but glad it's fixed and you're not totally out of pocket on this fiasco.
